The Origin of a Community Telecenter Project The Ministry of Information and Communication Technology energetically pursues a policy to enhance opportunities for members of communities over the whole country to access knowledge and Information and Communication Technology (ICT). The policy particularly aims to narrow the digital gap and enable a religious leader, a local leader, and the community members from all age groups to apply knowledge and ICT in their community telecenter, which is established by the ministry, to their day-to-day life in order to improve the quality of life and promote the community development.
The Ministry of Information and Communication Technology plans to establish a telecenter nationwide. After a leader or a representative of each community completes a given questionnaire and sends it back at the address mentioned in the document, the ministry will comprehensively review their responses and evaluate the location of those communities afterwards. The community that passes the evaluation will be supported by the ministry to set up a telecenter as a place for community access to ICT in the following year.
